Why Reviews Matter for Clinics
For most clinics, the Google Business Profile is the first thing a prospective patient sees. Volume and recency of reviews, and how you respond, influence both ranking and whether someone calls. The goal is a steady stream of genuine reviews, not a one-time push.
Do It Ethically
- Never buy reviews or post fake ones. It breaches Google's policies and patient trust, and it is easy to spot.
- Do not review-gate. Asking only happy patients for a public review, while diverting unhappy ones to a private form, is against the rules. Ask everyone; handle complaints properly wherever they land.
- Do not offer incentives for reviews.
The Timing
Ask when satisfaction is highest: just after a good consultation, at a successful follow-up, or when a treatment plan is completed. A tired patient at the billing counter after a two-hour wait is the wrong moment.
Make It One Tap
- Send a short thank-you message after the visit with a direct review link.
- Keep a QR code to the review link at the desk and in the consultation room.
- The message should be personal and low-pressure: thank them, say reviews help other patients find the clinic, include the link.
Respond to Every Review
- Thank positive reviewers briefly, without sharing any clinical detail.
- For negative reviews, respond calmly, do not confirm the person was a patient, do not discuss specifics publicly, and invite them to contact the clinic to resolve it.
Keep It Systematic
Automate the post-visit message through your clinic software so the ask is consistent. Track review count and average rating monthly. A smooth visit, helped by short waits and a transparent queue, is what earns the five stars in the first place.
