Use This as an Evaluation Checklist
When comparing hospital management systems, score each vendor module by module against how your hospital actually works. These fifteen cover the core of a mid-sized hospital.
Front Office and Patient
1. Registration and patient master: unique IDs, duplicate control, ABHA capture. 2. Appointment scheduling: multi-doctor, multi-department, with online booking. 3. Queue and token management: OPD flow with live status and a doctor dashboard.
Clinical
4. OPD EMR: structured notes, templates, e-prescription. 5. IPD and ADT: admission, transfer, discharge, bed and ward management. 6. Nursing: vitals, medication administration, care notes. 7. Operation theatre: scheduling, checklists, consumable and implant tracking.
Diagnostics
8. Laboratory (LIMS): order entry, barcoding, analyzer integration, reporting. 9. Radiology / PACS integration: order entry and report delivery.
Support Services
10. Pharmacy: batch and expiry, FEFO, indents, purchase reconciliation. 11. Inventory and central stores: multi-store, transfers, reorder levels.
Finance
12. Billing: OPD, IPD, package, and mixed payments with daily reconciliation. 13. Insurance and TPA: eligibility, pre-authorisation tracking, claims and denial management. 14. Accounts integration: export to your accounting system, ledgers and receivables.
Management
15. MIS and dashboards: occupancy, revenue, footfall, TAT, dues, by department.
Cross-Cutting Requirements
Beyond modules, insist on: role-based access with audit trails, configurable without code, a documented API for integrations, data export on demand, off-site backups, and a clear ABDM roadmap.
Scoring
Rate each module: fully fits, fits with configuration, needs customisation, or absent. A vendor strong on ten modules and absent on the two you depend on is the wrong vendor, however good the demo felt.
